Ah! Cool to know. It's amazing how much the character is similar to a 5150 to my ear. Maybe the 5150 and dualrec have similar power sections. I know they both have four 6L6 tubes in them, so maybe that's where I'm getting it. I love the bottom it has, you can really feel the chugga chugga! Regardless of what it's based on, it's killer. My hat is off to you.

It might be a surprise to some of you, but a Dual Rectifier circuit nearly identical to the Soldano SLO100, except for the tone control circuit. The 5150 has quite a few similarities with the Soldano, which I think are too close to just be a coincidence. For instance, the 5150 uses pretty much the same tone stack as the Soldano.

Anyhow, my point is that all of these (including Engl, Diezel, Bogner) are all variants of each other. Of course, the Soldano was released before all of these. But the Soldano looks fairly derivative of a JCM800 and the Mesa Mark IIc series. It's no wonder that there are some similarities in sound, yet at the same time some pretty substantial differences.

I know Kris is going to probably get around to sharing, but I knew eventually someone would be using 11R for some big time metal project. I'll let him say the rest in his own thread but here's a link to check out:

I don't yet have the expansion but just generally don't try to dial up metal sounds but I tried one of my "heavier" patches that I made and detuned and it sounds pretty good to me for Black Label Society/Morbid Angel Domination type metal. I think I like this better than the way they Sansamp everything in post on the BLS albums.

You can definitely get metal tones out of this, a few presets are so metal i couldn't help but throw up the horns

If your just trying to sound like another metal guitarist, you can go buy what that guitarist is using and be done with it.

If you want to create your own signature metal tones that are yours, with likenesses to the greats, the eleven will surely allow you to do that - I've managed to get my LP sounding like the new BLS tune Parade of the Dead :) AND also like old school Randy R - dude, you won't regret it!!

With the XP eleven has kicked it's metal output up a notch :)

Here's a clip of the good ol' treadplate and I added the white boost pedal to give it a little of that palm mute crispness and it seemed to work pretty good. I started to use the M-2 amp but I am not good at dialing that one it though it had the right voicing for this song.
