Default Re: 5.1 to Mac Display port

Disappointing realization that the Mac Mini (2018) limits the number of connected displays to 3. Only workaround is to purchase a eGPU chassis like a Sonnet (with a fan...ugh) to put GPU cards in (more fans and $$). Ah well. Looks like I'll be dumbing my studio setup down to 2 displays, when I want to feed the home theater for screening.

Tim. You can try getting a Display Link adapter. USB to HDMI.

I’m using on my M1 and it’s working great.

Multi-channel is more difficult than it seems. Consumer devices usually assume you are feeding Dolby Digital or DTS encoded signal (which means you need such a plugin on your PT master fader) or in rare occurences they accept discrete 6-channel analog audio (in which case you could feed those channels to the AV receiver).

I don't have it but if my memory serves me right it is Neyrinck who does Dolby Digital realtime encoder plugin. That would feed digital audio to your consumer device that interprets as 5.1 audio on that end.
