Default Setting up Digi 002 to External Clock source?????

I recently was given an older Lucid Genx6 from the studio I work at.

Knowing the 002 doesn't have a word clock input, I bought at BNC to S/DIF adapter.

I'm running the Lucid at superclock and taking its BNC out to my Digi 002's S/PDIF input.

When I try to set my clock source in the Hardware menu to "S/PDIF" it says "Your External Clock Source is Invalid. Reverting to Internal".

What's going on here? Can someone help me out?

You most likely bought a simple BNC/RCA adapter, you need an impedance transformer, like the Canare.
Check their website.

yeah...you're right... I did just buy a BNC to RCA adapter, wasn't really thinking on that one I guess. And they only make BNC to XLR and AES impedence adapters, but if that was the case I would have to search for adapters to those. By the time I go through these adapters the clock isn't going to be worth anything. Im screwed.

Any other ideas???

Convert the AES output of the Lucid to S/PDIF and connect that to your 002. What you are trying to do at the moment is connect a word clock signal to a S/PDIF input, and that is not going to work. Those are two entirely different types of protocols.

Just an idea. You mentioned that you was running the unit at superclock (x256), not word clock. The 002 cannot clock to superclock. That was for Mix systems.

I thought since S/PDIF carried L mono R mono and clock along the cable it might work. But I do suppose that would just be wordclock and not superclock. So, yeah... Tom just gave me the answer I needed, it just doesn't work. I suppose I'll just use the lucid for outboard gear, since I don't think I'll be buying an HD or old mix system anytime soon... or ever.

And there's no AES output on the LUCID, so no luck with that Chief.
