tempo
Within my pro tools sessions my song starts out at bar 2.
Aside from the main song I have other parts that were created but I may or may not use so I will drag them over out of the way away from the song. Now the problem is that whenever I make a tempo change anywhere before that it will mess all of it up to where the clips won't line up any more like the drums don't line up with the guitar clips and the bass don't line up either. So, then I have to guess what that tempo change was for that part then line the drums back up with that guitar and bass etc... very inconvenient because there are a lot of parts. I think it has something to do with the midi drums being on ticks so whenever you make a tempo change the midi stays on those lines, but the recorded guitar clips move to a different spot than the drums because it's on samples rather than ticks. Same as bass being on ticks cause its midi. I guess if I put the recorded guitar clips on ticks instead of samples it won't do that? I don't know what the best way would be to fix this? I don't want to move these parts to a different session, I want to keep them in that session. Is there a way to make some sort of a blocker between the main song and these extra parts down the track so they won't move around like that? |

Re: tempo
Quote:
Split to different Pro Tools sessions, change the audio tracks to tick base (so it moves with MIDI. OR, put a marker and a tempo marker at the area you want to have the original time and once done with the earlier section (assuming they aren't near each other), compute a time between the two sections at the end of your work to put the second section back aligned. (just divide the time by the beats and use that as the tempo for the in-between measures.)

Re: tempo
Yes, changing every track to tick based does the trick.
Then will have to just switch those tracks back to sample based after done. Thanks |
