Dropbox Merge or Replace?

Hello.

One of my backup locations is Dropbox for my sessions

When I copy/paste a single session from my external hard drive to Dropbox - it gives me the option to either replace or merge.

Merge is a lot quicker - but I am wondering if it is an acceptable way of updating my Dropbox session...?

For operations like this I use tools that actually compare two folders and give you options what do. Command line tools like rsync are pretty straightforward and way more secure then copy commands. There are also ools available with graphic user interfaces like chronosync.

Thanks henningaround - I think your suggestion of a product like Chronosync is what I have been missing…

I have Carbon Copy Cloner - which works well - but it really wants to replace entire folders and not just update - which is what I am after…

I downloaded Chronosync and so far I think it's the right answer.

I had a question on how to do something specific - and emailing their tech support I got an answer back unbelievably fast...

Will experiment with the free trial for another day or so - but it's looking like it's going to be a solid purchase from this guy...
