Auto mute in pro tools ultimate 2022 10.0

Hi everyone!

I need to find a way to make a track mute (automatically) while it is in recording. I monitor the mic from an aux track but i have to listen with preroll what was recorded before.
I know there is a plugin (mute tone) that does this but it’s nowhere to be found (if anyone knows where to find that, please tell me).
I usually do that with the option “Mute record-armed tracks while stopped” and on other version of Pro Tools and it works, but in ultimate 2022 10.0 don’t.
Can anyone help me please?

Is input monitoring enabled on the track you are recording onto?

Because what you want is essentially what is standard in Pro Tools.
And to clarify you should always listen to what is being recorded and not what is present on an input.

Another option is to operate by recording to a separate track from what you are listening to before the punch. On the "original track, highlight and delete the audio that you are about to record(over) so you hear the original up to where you wish to punch(though by recording to another track, you can enter record any time). Once you get a take you like, copy/paste that audio back onto the original track

The OP wants to mute automatically while it is in Record. Has it been fixed in Muteomatic? I can only make it work for Play and Stop. It was reported to work in some other DAWs but not Pro Tools AFAIK.

If you are using an RME Interface, I can recommend ControlPilot. It can automate a Mute-Group to Pro Tools transport state.

I guess the OP needs to clarify this a bit. Should a track be muted in stop or in play? Or both?
Either way, the original description sounds like a fundamentally wrong approach to a recording. If you don't listen to the recording while you're recording, you don't know if the recording is correct.

Sorry for the delay, I'll try to explain myself better.

I work in voice acting, so I only need to work with a microphone to record a single voice. In my template I use an aux track that inputs the microphone and outputs a bus (which I call mic rec) and speakers. This "mic rec" bus is input to the audio track I use to record vocals. Consequently it is useless to me that the two tracks are active because I would hear the recording at a doubled level. What I would like is for the audio track to be active when it is in pre-roll, while when it is recording it mutes automatically so as not to hear the input audio level doubled and to avoid manually muting each time.

Muteomatic unfortunately on my version of pro tools won't let me use the mute setting while recording.

Why are you bringing the mic signal in on an Aux Track and bussing that to an Audio Track to record the signal? I record VO as well and have been for over 21 years. I have never done it the way you're describing.

I do the reverse, bringing the mic signal in on an Audio Track and bussing that to an Aux Track that has my real-time plug-ins. I use a buffer of 64 and plug-ins with little latency. And I use Pre-Roll to punch-and-roll, hearing the already recorded audio up to the end of the Pre-Roll as the Transport is in Play and the mic signal at the end of the Pre-Roll when the Transport goes into Record.
