Silicon Chipset working :o)
I'm glad to report to you that I have solved the problem that I wrote to
you about earlier ( Not being able to change from Edit to Mix window in Pro Tools LE 5.3.3 on a M-box without getting click/pops and a buffer error message). The reason that I could solve it was because I on your website could read that Mbox was not supported on computers with motherboards containing SiS (Silicon Integrated Systems) chipsets. After checking my computer (Fujitsu Amilo M-6500 256 Mb Ram running on XP +S.P1) I could see that my Display adapters was a Silicon Motion Lynx3DM. Then I started to dig into the problem. First by sending mails and checking the digidesigns user forums. I could see that there were other guys (maybe girls too) who had similar problems. But then I thought could this really be a driver problem. I went to Silicon Motions website and checked if there was a newer driver for my display adapter than the one the XP installation disk had installed during the XP installation - and wolla - there was a driver with version 6.13.1.242 dated 06-12-2002 and after updating the driver everything is running like a dream. No Pops/Clicks or buffer error message. Just thought that I share this information with you users, so if anyone is not getting Pro Tools 5.3.3 (M-box) to run on a Fujitsu Amilo computer this is the solution. Noticed other users having similar problems on other computers (PCs), maybe it's a driver problem. Have a Nice day....a finely HAPPY PRO TOOLS USER. |

Re: Silicon Chipset working :o)
Thanks for letting us know how it all turned out.
It's amazing how many "proTools' problems are really obsolete or poorly written drivers. (BTW by 'wolla' you may mean voila- french for 'see there' -as in a sudden appearance as if by magic.) |
