PROFIRE 610 NOT WORKING!! Reward for solution!!
The other day I was working on a project and decided to do some stuff around the house and the computer went into sleep mode and when I went to go back into pro tools I noticed there is a very faint muffled sound when I hit the play button. The green LED's aren't even lighting up when I tap on the microphone. I have un-installed and re-installed the driver and software but the same thing happens. I re-booted the system multiple times with no luck. I even powered the system up alone with the AC adapter and the green LED's still do not light up. Did the sleep mode fry something inside? Any input would be greatly appreciated. I will go so far as to send somebody a $20 dollar check for the right solution.

Re: PROFIRE 610 NOT WORKING!! Reward for solution!!
Sounds like the 1394 board got fried - especially if standalone mode doesn't work sounds like it hot plugged itself
Older DiGi devices usually had a light when the 1394 connection was active - maybe look into that that and the guy over at the maudio forum he is pretty quick to answer

FYI the light was on the back by the connector
Try to peak in behind the metal case

Have you tried powering the computer on and off a few times without the firewire connected then plug it in? Just check the interface is selected in the playback engine? boot PT holding the N key then in the playback engine window select the 610 as the interface (If its there) and see if that works. Actually I'm not even sure this is an option with M-Powered!!!! have you tried another firewire port on computer and the 610? Another firewire cable? How about another computer to check the 610 on? maybe try the combo updater for OS 10.5.8? definitely using the right drivers? Chris

Not sure if you're talking about the blue LED for the power or the green LED's for the inputs? The blue light comes on when the unit powers up, but the green LED's don't light up when there is audio input (tapping on a microphone).

Re: PROFIRE 610 NOT WORKING!! Reward for solution!!
@crizdee I basically tried all those things with the same results. Pro tools does recognize the interface but for some reason the green LED's aren't lighting up with audio input (even though I can hear myself tapping the microphone through the monitor speakers), and when I play a recording the sound is barely audible through the monitor speakers. Another interesting thing is when I select a channel to record with it shows no input in the meter for that channel when I'm tapping on the mic.

Sleep mode can cause problems with the device being detected, but I dont think it has anything to do with your problem.
The gain knob isn't pulled out (enabling the 20db pad)? Try another mic or instrument with new cables? Joel

@JoelG I've tried different mic cables, microphones and instrument cables with the knob in and pulled out(-20db), it still doesn't register any input.

So ur meters are not working on the unit?
What about in pro tools? Does pro tools recognize the unit? System profiler or system report Even some other program that will allow you to see a meter onscreen I think you hear tapping b/c it's functioning as a mixer sans PT
