Soft samplecell problem

Hi all,

In the setup window for SSC the option for Direct I/O is grayed out. How can this be, nothing is mentioned about this in the manual. Furthermore, I am unable to audition sounds in SSC if PT is not running. Help please (Digi?)

Setup: Mix3 + 2 SCII tdm in expansion chassis, 1622 on core, 882 on farm, G4 MP 500, MacOS 9.1, PT 5.1.1.

Look in your Extensions Manager. Do you have Digidesign Direct I/O installed and enabled? Is it a version that matches your other Digi Extensions?

(also make sure and open the Extensions Manager window all the way, otherwise you will get partial names, such as "...irect I/O")

-You cannot use DAE and Direct I/O simultaneously...is Pro Tools launched when it is greyed out? If not, check for the presence of the Direct I/O extension as legasus suggests.

-Can you audition Soft SC if you choose "Sound Manager" from Setup window?

If you have a Midiman usb extension get rid of it and see what happens.

Yes, Digidesign Direct I/O is installed and enabled in the extensions folder. I have the following installed and enabled
Digidesign Direct I/O 5.1.1
Digidesign DSP manager 5.1.1
Digidesign Streammanager 5.1.1cs9
Digisystem INIT 5.1.1
Directconnect Data (n/a, no version given)

Yes, I can audition when choosing Sound Manager, but only sounds on SSC not those on SCII cards, but I guess that is normal. This is in standalone mode, with PT I use Directconnect.

You can remove the "DirectConnect data" extension (I think that was used with the first version of DC that was released).

-Yes, hardware SampleCell cannot preview out of Sound Manager...you can only preview via the card's analog outputs except when running Pro Tools with the TDM piggyback.
