Default Freeze Track Info

Just got back from NAMM. Freeze WILL be in PT12. You can freeze any track within PT. NOT if you're running external hardware or VEP. Track will freeze in place like you can do in Live (and other DAWs)

Info came directly from one of the techs. I asked NO OTHER questions because frankly I don't care about the whole cloud thing.

There ya go.

I thought this was pretty obvious.

And I wonder why Avid isn't making a bigger deal out of Freeze and Commit, both great features. Instead, they're trying to sell you on their vision.

Strange.

Yeah, I was extremely let down by the Pro Tools 12 announcement. I could care less about cloud recording. Didn't really seem like any actual new features were added.

Very cool!

Since it'll be considered a "feature upgrade", I wonder how long it will take before it's released after the cloud collaboration features are worked out. April 1, 2016? Ironically, with the new subscription model, timing is more important than ever.

We're getting excited about a Freeze feature? I would hope that for the money I have to pony up for a PT12 upgrade, I get something more than a feature that has been included in some other DAWs for years.

This whole cloud collaboration and built in keyosk for a web store is not an update worth what they are asking for it.

Hey, in PT10/11 Avid made huge waves with the announcement of Offline Bounce and Clip Gain. Offline bounce has been in most DAWs for, what, over 15 years? I know I used it in Cool Edit Pro around 1996 or so. And calling Clip Gain a 'feature' is comical to a Samplitude user who has had control of nearly every aspect of objects (clips) for about 15 years. I literally laughed out loud when I first read that press announcement. Touting something so simplistic struck me as funny.

That said, I will appreciate Freeze in PT12. If you don't have it, you want it.

I figure it this way. I work about 340 days a year. So, all freeze has to do is save me $1.76 a day and it pays for itself. Will it? Hell yes! Clip gain alone paid for itself many many times over the cost of upgrading to 10 and then 11.

I realize this is just my particular situation but I AM happy I'll finally have it.

Cloud....don't care but I'll use it for additional storage depending on the cost and speed. Right now I use box.net which is not choked and sometimes drop box which it totally choked. I'm on Fios at 150/150mbps.
