Default Can I have a word with the bloke who puts up the -6045 ERROR message?

Hi all

what is it exactly the -6045 error wants me to do? All I can do is cheerily click OK and start again . Previous threads suggest an AMD/VIA problem. I've Abit KG7, AMD1400, 256 DDR. Any thoughts? How bad are the -6044 other errors?

Cheers
Sparks

Hey Sparks,
I went back a did alittle searching to look into this. Probably read the same threads you did. I found two things of interest:

It's interesting to note the -6045 errors also showed up with the Digi001 on older Mac 9600 and Beige G3 machines last year.

At this point we don't know what is causing the -6045s, it may not be the Athlon CPU specifically -- it's more likely to be the chipset (since the 6045 error is probably due to something ugly happening on the PCI bus).

Thanks for your patience.

While it looked like it happened more on Althon machines, and possibly Via chipsets, the thing I saw was that this seemed to be pointed at PCI bus problems when certain motherboards had mixed chipset.

Unfortunately I could find no evidence that Bob every responded with info about what they found out about the cause. My guess is they probably found nothign other than certain bad motherboards or something and couldn't nail it down.

I don't know the Abit KG7. What chipset is it?

Also, what PCI cards do you have in the system?

I might also suggest that you start a thread to find out about how many people are using the Abit MB and how successful they are. Surely the Asus and GigaByte's have been the dominant ones used here. That said, I like an old Abit I used to use, but haven't used anything recently.
