-plug the guitar directly into the input 1 "line" 1/4 inch, jack on your mbox
-open a blank session
-create a new 1 mono audio track (shift command n)
-check the input and output of the track in the mix window (command = to change windows)
-input should be input 1 from the interface, output should be A 1-2
-record enable the track. make sure the green light is lit next to "mic/line" -slowly bring up the level input 1 as you look at the meter in pro tools until its a good level
-dont clip

Just a shot in the dark here, but make sure you have the instrument button engage on your interface. Not knowing what it is I can't tell you about it but many let you choose between mic and instrument inputs. otherwise use a DI.

And record your guitar to an AUDIO track and NOT an Instrument track(which is for virtual instruments).
