Default Digi 002 works fine, but no sound device in Windows?

I was under the impression that Windows would see any Digi hardware as a sound device. I have the Digi 002, and even though it works fine with ProTools and WMP, when I go into sound devices in Windows XP, is says "No Audio Device" and there are no choices to select one. So I can't get any audio to play out of my pc unless it's playing from ProTools or WMP. Can the Digi002 be THE audio device for Windows XP?

The ASIO driver should allow this but I prefer another method. I run a cable from the onboard audio output to the ALT inputs on the 002/003 and hit the ALT to NOB button to listen to any non-protools sounds.

Interesting idea. I thought I'm supposed to keep my onboard sound disabled when I have a PT hardware connected, but if it works for you I'll give it a shot. Thanks.

I have the on-board audio enable on this setup and my 2 older ASUS systems and have never had an issue. The Sound Blaster stuff seems to be more trouble.
