Default 8.0.4 giving "not an audio playback volume" error on hot swappable drives only

Any word on this? I'm experiencing the exact same problems (on external drives) since a couple of weeks. Opening a session using apple-O works, but most of the time PT crashes and a reboot is needed.

I'm on OS 10.6.1 and PT 8.0.4 and 2 external LaCie drives and a Canopus 110.
Mac pro 2x2.66 Dual Core Intel Xeon, 6 Gb internal memory.

Did permissions repair, ditch preferences, and repair disk in disk utility.
Worked like a charm for over 6 months in this setup and something along the way made this happen...

I would update to 10.6.3 or 10.6.4, as 8.0.4 wasn't qualified with 10.6.1.

I would also back up and erase the drives in question - if they were working, it sounds like they may have been corrupted in some way.

Thanks, i'll give that a try. By the way, which external harddrive do you recommend on a HD rig? I'm slowly getting very frustrated on the LaCie's...

Avid doesn't recommend specific drives, but personally the OWC Mercury Elite drives have been great and I think others here have had good things to say about them as well.
