<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">If you mean work with Pro Tools LE, the answer is NOT...

But if you mean work with only the Windows, the answer is YES...

You can use the AMIII in Windows just as a sound card... But if you want use the Pro Tools LE you have to update to chip "QC" or "QE"...

Sorry for my english,

i don't think that's true. you can use the card with 98 or XP. also, you can use PTLE with it in either 98 or XP (5.1 in 98, 5.3 in XP).

http://www.digidesign.com/compato/98me/511am3win.html

the problem with the Q cards is that in some PCs, you get static in one channel. you can still use the card, though, and it will still run with PTLE...

So, we're saying that revision QE is okay with a newer motherboard (PC)? Is the QC revision only to make them work on G4's? Thanks.

I have one of the first cards (the old chip, not modified). It work's fine here (P3-800, Windows XP, PTLE 5.3.1).

Hello,

The rev QC and QE cards are updated for the PCI 2.1 spec. Some modern PCs will run ok with a Q rev card, some will not. If you are experiences problems with a rev Q card you can get it updated to QE for $85. To get the card updated contact tech support at 650-731-6100 to setup an RA.

regards,
mike

So, what PC's does this static refer to? Is it a motherboard problem or what? Thanks.

Best regards,

The q-revision has problem with high pci-speed in modern pc's. this is fixed in qc/qe.
