Check your playback engine. If it shows the Profire 2626, then go to the I/O and hit default button. This should set the I/O as a default fro the Profire 2626.

I set up a new admin account on my machine with pretty much everything off (Airport, bluetooth etc.) and no 'bells and whistles' software. I installed Pro Tools on that account, and I've had no probs. Prior to this my machine would crash around 30%, easily. Since that fix I have run up to 60% System Usage!! (At that level I do need to move the engine to 1024) RAM will also help (I increased mine up to 6GB, go at least 4GB).

hope that helps!

Very interesting. I might try this as mine has been crashing too.

Hmm... not sure we are on the same page.
First - start your ProTools software and load your session.
Second - Under the Setup Menu click on Playback Engine... You should see what your current engine is and your buffer size. It should say Profire, if not click and select it.
Third - Under Setup Menu choose I/O.... Hit the default button. It should adjust to show all of your inputs and outputs. You can then edit them to say what you want. When all is correct, you will be able to chose these in your ins and outs and sends.

It really sounds like you have the built in I/O chosen for the playback engine. go to the playback engine you will see the what Pro Tools is using. Also what are the three plugs that you have loaded when you get an error?

Dverb x2, LongDelay

I had the error problems when I first got 8.3 and had to go back to 8 for it to work stable, is it worth trying 9 instead of 9.1?
