Pro Tools 9 And Motu 896
Now that PT (9) runs on "other" audio interfaces, I have dusted off my old Motu 896 (not HD).
Unfortunately, even after downloading the new Motu drivers for the Mac, I can't get the 896 to work with Pro Tools 9. In fact, I can't even get audio to light up the channel input lights on the 896. I can see a "Digi CoreAudio Device" with 0 in/0 out grayed out in the Audio MIDI Setup app as well as a device connected to my Firewire bus which presumably is the 896 as I have nothing else connected to my Mac Mini. I also see the Pro Tools Aggregate Audio In/Out, but in its list of devices, the CoreAudio device (presumably the 896) is not listed. Anybody got any ideas what is going on. Is the 896 just too old an incompatible with PT9? Motu web site says any coreaudio Motu device is supposed to work with PT9. |

Re: Pro Tools 9 And Motu 896
If the 896 is not showing up in AMS then that's the problem - it has to show up there for Pro Tools to recognize it. The Digi CoreAudio Device is only for 002/003 and HD.
Have you tried creating a new administrator account, signing into it and seeing if it shows up in the new account? You could also try trashing the specific Core Audio preferences per the info in the General Troubleshooting thread, as that may help. Alternately you could try a clean uninstall and reinstall of the MOTU drivers. Which driver version are you installing, exactly? |

Re: Pro Tools 9 And Motu 896
Can you provide me a link to "Core Audio preferences per the info in the General Troubleshooting thread"?
I have searched through the forums and can not find this. |

If you click on the 'General Troubleshooting - Pro Toom LE Mac' link under my signature, it's the 4th reply down the page:
Core Audio troubleshooting - for general Core Audio problems, such as if your interface is not being recognized or it's greyed out in Audio MIDI Setup (AMS), try this: |

Re: Pro Tools 9 And Motu 896
Thanks to a new driver from MOTU, I now have my Mac Mini recognizing my 896 and playing other audio (like iTunes), but I still can't get audio to work in Pro Tools 9. I can see the audio hitting the channel inputs on the MOTU 896, but the Channel 1/2 output meters do not light up (like they do in iTunes. When I go to Setup>Hardware, where I would expect to see something related to the 896, all i see is the reference to the PT Aggregate I/O. Do I need to trash my old I/O amd create a new one in Setup>I/O?
I should add that I can hear audio through PT9, but it defaults to my built in speakers on my Mac Mini. |

Re: Pro Tools 9 And Motu 896
Launch Pro Tools and hold down the 'n' key while it's booting - you'll get the Playback Engine dialog where you can choose the 896 as your interface.
If, after choosing it as the interface, you still don't get output, go to Setups>IO Setups and default both the input and output tabs. |
