Default Driver for Windows XP Sound Recording Device?

Does there exist a stand-alone driver that would allow the MBox2 Mini to work as a Windows Sound Recording Device? Windows sees the mbox as a Sound Playback Audio Device but not as a Sound Recording Device. The reason why is that I have a 3rd party application that will use the Windows recording device.

No.

The Wavedriver, which is the driver that is used to make Digidesign devices work as the standard windows device, is playback only. You will not be able to use the MBox2 mini as a standard Windows recording device.

If the third party application that you are using is ASIO compatible, you can use the ASIO driver instead.

Which third party application specifically?

The application is Adobe Captivate - used for computer application recording for training purposes.

Adobe Captivate is not ASIO compatible (as far as I am aware). You will not be able to use the MBox for recording into Adobe Captivate.
