Analogue board upgrade...

Hi guys,

I have not so far used the analogue section of my PC (2.5 yrs old) but am now setting it up to use the surround monitoring facility.

Q: Is the analogue board upgrade to early PCs necessary (I have never even heard the original yet [img]images/icons/blush.gif[/img] )?

Looking at the serial numbers I believe my PC requires the upgrade.

Hi Peter,

The analog upgrade for ProControl provided two enhancements. It reduced a crosstalk problem where you could hear a neighboring input bleeding through softly if you weren't playing back through the main input, and it also eliminated a small DC offset issue that could cause a click when you changed input sources. The other aspects of the monitor system -- noise, distortion and frequency response -- remained largely unchanged. As to whether you need the upgrade or not, I would suggest setting up your monitor system and seeing if you have crosstalk or click issues.

I believe there was also an early issue with the monitor section where the absolute polarity was inverted on outputs. There was a replacement connector board made available for this although I don't know a lot more than that.
