Re: All lights flashing on my D-Command
Try e-bay, I saw PS there when mine gave up, didn't buy one though, since I fixed it myself.

D-Command Service Guide request
While D-Control Service Guide is available online, http://akarchive.digidesign.com/supp...vice_Guide.pdf
I cannot locate a corresponding D-Command Service Guide. Avid customer support declines helping with this, indicating D-Command is beyond service date, etc. However I believe a legacy D-Command Service Guide must exist, given that both D-Control and D-Command operations and setup up docs exist. Please help if you can. Thanks, Nick McDougal |

Re: All lights flashing on my D-Command
Thanks for the info in this thread! Yesterday my D-Command ES did the 1 sec flash. I left it on and after a time became stable again. I suspect I should leave it on for now. And see if I can order one of these as it is likely that my PSU is dying....

Re: All lights flashing on my D-Command
Fixed an LED supply today on the D-Command.
I had attempted a repair a couple of years ago, but that one ended in defeat as I damaged a number of traces on the PCB replacing capacitors. Even after attempting to repair the traces, the supply would not power on. Eventually I ordered a new supply. This time during the capacitor replacement I also damaged a trace, one of the same as last time (negative lead of C11). Last time I had used a meter to to determine where I thought the trace went, as the path was not completely visible. This time I still had the old supply with the failed repair, so I decided to remove the transformer to see where the trace was really supposed to connect. It turns out that last time I routed the damaged trace to the wrong lead on the transformer. No wonder it didn't work, but it also makes sense that the transformer winding resistance was so low both sides of the winding read the same resistance. This time I was able to correctly repair the damaged trace and got the supply working again. Hooray! |

Re: All lights flashing on my D-Command
My 24 channel D Command still has original power supplies and I'm anticipating replacing them. Question for those of you who have done this. Do you access them from the top or do you need to flip the unit over and get to them from the bottom?

Re: All lights flashing on my D-Command
Having done this yesterday, it is fresh on my mind. It is not difficult, but there are a couple of factors that make it annoying.
To swap out a supply, you need to remove the top right encoder panel. To do this you need to remove not only the visible allen head screws but also a set of screws on the right hand side. To get to those screws you must remove the end cap (or in my case, the fader pack that was bolted to the right hand side). Then unplug it and set it aside. Main units have three power supplies but fader packs have only two. Two of the supply types can be removed with the access provided by removing the encoder plate. There is not much space to access the screws holding the power supplies, so ideally you want a stubby #1 Philips screwdriver for that. The first time I did the job I sawed an extra Lectrosonics screwdriver in half to get a short #0 Philips. The LED supply has an additional heat sink that is screwed to the power supply from the top as well as to the chassis from the bottom. So for that supply you must remove three screws from the bottom as well. The D-Control service manual linked earlier in the thread recommends having the unit on two tables so you can access these screws from underneath. I didn't have two tables handy so I tipped the unit up to get to these screws. Doing this by myself was precarious. If you can have a second person help it would be better. Re: All lights flashing on my D-Command
Thanks for this info. Sager.com has the PSU with part# SNP-Z107-M. Apparently the M designation is for Medical safety. Do you know by any chance if these are OK to use instead?
