Default Intel Clovertown x5355 HD3 system - it works! or not…?

I just finished building a HD3 PCI sytem:
Mobo asus DSBV-D,
4 Gig Kingston 667 Ram,
one Intel Xeon x5355 (quad)
Western Digital Raptor 150 Gb
Samsung SpinPoint P120 SP2514N 250 Gb
Seasonic 650 Watt PSU (maybe I need 750 or 1000 Watts?)
nVidia 8800GTS
razer copperhead mouse
WinXP pro SP2

ProTools 7.3.1cs2
HD3 with 1 core and 2 accels
i/o 192

Everything seems to work, but since I have absolutely NO experience with ProTools, I really don't know if the following behaviour is normal:
In a 26 track session with about 10 tdm plug-ins and some rtas plug-ins (not that much) - at a certain point fader movement becomes jerky when I try to move them with the mouse. There's always a delay until they react.
Does that ever happen on a Dell Precision 690?

I did the test and everything passed BUT I've noticed that the core was on ID #2 instead of ID#0 where it should belong. So, I changed them to the correct order and now that strange behavior seems to have perished. (PCIs whre the other way around on a P4 system where I first tested the cards before getting the DSBV-D motherboard). I have to test it further on.

Hmm… it refuses to boot. I have to wait 10 minutes and then the system boots alright. I can think of 2 causes: a) voltage b) heat??

I really need a STABLE system - so, seems as a Dell 690 for me…

Did you try to reinstall PT completly since you've changed cards order? Also, is Raid disabled in bios? Maybe it'll help...
Btw, does PT utilize all 4 cores of processor, or just 2?

You can check it in "Playback engine" menu and see the number of processors for RTAS.

That's great! Did you find solution for the issues above? This mobo's specifications look very attractive for HD PCI-X...

so, after a week of testing I am totally frustrated - this system seems to be incompatible with my old PCI HD3. It shuts itself down - I haven't figured out when but it it has the tendency to do that when the cpu is stressed... I have no more stamina to go all the way and find out where the problem may be.
So I'll go for the digidesign approved stuff!
