Default can i open an HD session in LE?

Well, I can't.

I've got XP and version 7.3.1 and the HD session has SDII files.
is there any way to open it in LE?

it says that the files will be converted in the background, but minutes later it tells me that the 112 files were not found.

thanks for the help guys.

What version of HD? Actually, SD II was the old format for audio files from the early days of protools. Are you sure that is what they are? If so, maybe a google search will turn up a program that can convert from SD II to wav or aiff(either of which can be read by protools). You won't hurt anything by trying to open it anyway so see what happens.

Hello

I belive that the SDII files are a specific mac audio format, so the answer would be that you can open your hd sesion in LE if it is on a mac with a LE setup that supports the files sample rate, ie not possible if you have recorded in 192MHz.

Hope this helps

Iain

Open the session on a Mac and then save it with the WAV/BWF option checked. I think you can also open AAIF files but I don't use them (and I'm to lazy to look it up in the manual right now).

oops. misread yr post so i deleted my last one as it was kinda irrelevant.

did you try clicking automatically relink with no luck? you might have to manually relink the files. assuming they are not actually missing!

i just tried opening an old PT5 SDII session moving the Audio Files folder to a different location, clicked automatically relink and after a few minutes it found the files and all was good.

is the session still on a mac formatted disk?

yes; I tried both options with no luck.
I will try some of the above recommendations when get home in a few days.
I had no idea that SDII files were from older versions of protools. I thought he said that it was done on version 7.3
Well, if it works i will let you guys know.
thanks folks.

that is weird. what if you create a new session and try importing session data? most likely the same result but ya never know.

you can still use SD2 files in 7.3 but it's not the recommended option as they are limited to 48KHz, not PC compatible, etc. but still some old school mac users seem to want to make everything SD2. maybe they think SD2's sound better? i switched to WAV as soon as 5.1 was released (i guess mainly coz i had a 001 in a PC at home and there was no cross platform compatibility before 5.1 ).
