LED lights not working right on Digi 002R - new problem
The other day I noticed that saveral of my led's were stuck in the on position. These were 3 out of 4 of the sample rate lights and all 3 midi lights, but the 1394 light ( firewire ) was not burning at all.
After some research, I took the lid off and disconnected the power supply clips (opposite the ac power supply) then reseated them. Now, upon power up, the unit clicks 3 times and the led's flash a couple of times but now they don't work at all ! None of the lights along the lower part of the face come on anymore. This behaviour is the same whether connected to the computer or not. (ALSO no 1394 light) The unit still works and runs sessions (but no sample rate light). The switched led's still work fine ( mute, mono, etc.) I paid to talk to a tech at Digidesign and he says it's not the dreaded power harness problem and he has never seen this before. He refused to send me a power/dc harness to try. I am worried that my unit may crap out during a session. Any thoughts? Anyone ever seen this before? |

Re: LED lights not working right on Digi 002R - new problem
SInce you have already opened the unit, I would go back in and unplug-replug all the wiring harness connections. The clicking sounds like the power harness to me but I'm no bench tech. My 002 harness needs to be reseated about once every 6 months. Also, are you POSITIVE you got the connector back in the correct position?

Re: LED lights not working right on Digi 002R - new problem
Yes, thanks. I restored power while the cover was still off. I tried re-seating all the connections inside I could find that would easily come off while I was in there - some of them have ribbons with white plastic connections. I guess the power supply is the one with the 3 metal clip/crimped connectors, but I don't know which one is the dc harness. What does it look like?
Anyway, my 1394 light is dead and all the other lights along that plane flash only briefly upon power up. The thing is, Digidesign says I ALREADY have the upgraded harness since my serial number ends in G. They are not aknowledging another known problem and say I should send it to a service center (and do without it for a couple of weeks)and if it IS the harness, they'll pay for it, but they WON'T send me a harness! |

Re: LED lights not working right on Digi 002R - new problem
The fact that it works still, makes me think it is not the common power harness issue. You probably need to clear your schedule and find time to send it to a service center. Maybe rent a unit or get an mbox in the interim as a spare interface until your unit can be diagnosed and fixed. Sorry as I know this is not what you want to hear.
