Any Mac Pro HD users out there ? I have some questions....

Are the MacPros quiet regardless?

In my experience, as long as I'm not running the DVD drive, my Mac Pro has yet to spin up the fans. It is closeted at my studio, but in my previous space (I moved from there in Feb) the Mac was about 5 feet from me and I never heard it outside of some disk access noises (very, very quiet) and the DVD drive, which is quite noisy.

The quietness of that machine is such a feature that I'm contemplating switching a bunch of PCs out for Mac Pro's - and either running them with Boot Camp or transferring a bunch of libraries over to Kontakt.

Hi,

Im using a dual 3ghz mac pro + PT HD accel setup, its real quiet,

1) so well quiet overall
2) yes standard SATA II disks are fine
3) I use "audacity" as a after PT editor (after spending $$$$$ on my PT rig i feel totally annoyed to have to fork out $35 MP3 option < digidesign for HD owners its [bleep] insulting to even think you can ask this with a straight face). This app easily equals if not betters soundforge, its free and well good on mac intel and does very nice mp3 exports too.
