003 Rack doesn't show up/link up

So I got a macbook pro three days ago. I've been a pro tools user since 5.1, but on PC. I typically use my old 003 rack for an interface. So I ordered the thunderbolt to firewire adapter from apple, and a seperate usb 800 to 400 cable. I downloaded and installed the 002/003 rack drivers from avid.

I installed pt 11.2, and the only audio device that shows up under

setup --> hardware... is "Pro Tools Aggregate I/O".

I get no link light on the 003 rack, and all sounds play through the built in speakers. I can't seem to find a way to force the software to use the 003. Any tips?

Here's the kicker. ALL of my other audio software (in standalone mode) uses the 003 rack without any issue. Kontakt in standalone mode, Reaper, even garage band will see the 003 rack, and the link light comes right on. I noticed that all the other software (when I launch it outside of protools) automatically starts the digidesign CoreAudio Manager program, and that's when the link light comes on on the rack. So I tried launching that before launching protools. No dice.

It's a brand spanking new Macbook Pro, running OSX 10.9.5

Intel Core i7 with 16gb.

What did I do wrong here? Thanks for any help.

Well, once again, posting on the DUC fixed my problem. Something about rehearsing every step of the process so I can type it on here always makes me realize what I've done wrong. I had accidentally downloaded the OLD 002/003 family drivers. I went and got the right ones, and WALLA!
