HD 10.3.2 crashes with VI's!
Here's my system:
Pro Mac 2x 2.26 GHz Quad Core Intel Xenon 17 GB RAM Mac OS 10.6.8 Pro Tools HD 10.3.2 Playback engine settings: H/W Buffer: 512 Host Processors: 7 CPU limit: 95% Cache Size: Normal Plugin Streaming Buffer: Level 2 The problem I having is, occasionally, If I load a VI such as Ivory 2 or Superior Drummer v2.3, and Pro Tools crashes. My question is, what are the optimum Pro Tools HD 10.3.2 playback engine setting for using memory hungry VI's like these? My experience has been, PT HD v10.2 did not crash with these VI's. There must be a setting that got changed in the update process. Any suggestions? Thank you. |

Re: HD 10.3.2 crashes with VI's!
Hi,
Settings look right so don't think that's your problem! Something may have changed under the hood which effect these VIs. I guess you've checked for updates to these 2 plugs. Are there any settings within the plugs for streaming etc. Off topic, but with 17 gig ram why are you not using the disc cache and allocating ram to it? Chris

Re: HD 10.3.2 crashes with VI's!
Thanks Crizdee for your response! Yes, I made sure all my VIs are up to date. Your right, I should be using the Disc Cache! Would 1.5 GB be a good place to start for 3-6min (24/48) tracks?
Thank you, Mark |

Quote:
I would go higher 6-8 gig or if you want to keep more ram free fro other apps etc then try 4 and see if the timeline cache fills green to indicate its all cached etc. chris
