Default How do get Siri to work on 003 workstation?

Hello,

I have recently upgrade to PT 12.7 - and I just want to configure 'SIRI' of (Apple Sierra fame) so she comes out of my monitor speakers - Just like youtube, etc etc, (core audio driver).

How would I 'go about doing this' - so she hears me - and I hear her?

Regards

Sel

Why? What if Siri gets falsely triggered and her response comes out of your monitors at full volume in the middle of working in PT? It's the same thing like having your system sounds playing through your monitors while working in PT - it's something you really don't need happening.

Siri has enough problems with voices let alone background things like music going on and possibly masking voice commands.

Hello.

Why not? Are the voices so sizzled with sibilance - that you only notice them on monitors speakers?

I think you can turn Siri on manually - so no trouble there!

My monitors dissipate and propagate at 85dBSPL (normal conversation level, so no trouble there!)

I would not have Siri on at the same time as my music

I could sample the spoken words - for ambient effects etc

I can play Youtube and Vevo and Whatever through my mixer - but I don't play them at the same time as PT!

Whatever are you on about?

Is there a way I can patch Siri through my mixer?

Sibilance has nothing to do with this. That's a red herring you're putting up.

Yes Siri can be enabled manually but I've also seen it falsely triggered as well.

Normal conversation level is about 60dB. See this link: http://www.webmd.com/brain/tc/harmfu...topic-overview

If you have a pre-iPhone 7 that still has a headphone jack you could use that but you're going to need some kind of DI box between the two items. You've got impedance and audio levels to think about.

This is what I'm on about dude.

Choose your hardware in the Sound output pref. But keep in mind that only one app can access the hardware at a time, so the system can't use it while PT is launched.

My mistake I meant around about conversation level (85dB)

and anyway I can work out that:

For example:

20 log (6.15Vrms/.775) =18 dBu

10^18/20 (.775) = 6.16Vrms

In fact here are a few more for you

Av = - Rf/Rin = n Ratio

20 log (Av) = n Ratio

(vin) (Av) = V amplitude

20 log(Av/v) = n

fb =1/2π(CR) = Hz

Xc =1/2πfc = omega

20 log(ohm/Xc) = dB/octave

fb =1/2πt = Hz - seconds

20 log (Xc1/Xc2) = dB/ decade

Fres =1/2π√LC = Hz resonant Freq

Q =1/R√(L/C) = Q of the circuit

ΔF = Fres/Q = Hz - the bandwidth

Fb = 1/2π(CR) = Hz - capacitor - ohms

Fb =1/2π(L/R) = Henrys - ohms

20 Log(R1/R2) = db/octave (double the frequency)

XL =(1/2πFL)^-1 = inductance ohms

Xc = 1/2πFC = ohms reactance

I know enough to get by - how about yourself? Its just sometimes the navigation and terminology of PT 'throws me' and I get confused - apart from that I'm fine

I know many people choose to set their computer sound settings to use the internal sound card analogue output and feed it to an input on the interface. (The 003 has an aux input doesn't it?) That leaves PT alone with the interface and saves you the troubles that usually comes with sharing the interface between PT, OS and other applications. IHTH.

All this blabber means nothing to the issue being discussed.

And if you're conversing at 85 dB then you're shouting and will soon experience hearing loss. Not to mention you'll also lose your voice. There's no way in hell that anyone converses at 85 dB except at a disco.

Sorry but I know when I'm being played and I ain't putting up with this BS any longer. And if you want to get deep into tech stuff I'll run rings around you any day of the week. Retired EE who used to work in aerospace designing satellite control & command systems (not to mention more than enough time on both sides of the glass in a recording studio).

I'm outta here

This information is debatable

Never mind Jack straightened you out.

Jack he was propagating misinformation at 85 db, I'm glad you called him on it.
