Default Importing Digidesign\'s plugin \"pitch shift\" ?

How come every time i import an audio track that i've pitch shifted... IT ALWAYS CHANGES TO THE TEMPO I DON'T WANT!
i can't seem to get the audio to come back in the pitch i've shifted it to. i hit process. i import it. and play it down in the timeline at and comes back at totally different bpm.
why is that?
thanks.
