Default OS X compatibility announcement removed from Home page?

I am sure I'm not the only person who noticed Digi removed the announcement from Digi's home page that PT 6.0 would be out for OS X by the end of the year. I wonder what's up with that? Either they needed more room for other announcements, or it''s not going to happen as soon as expected.

On the main digidesign site click on 'NEWS', then 'Press Releases' then 'More Press Releases' at the bottom of that page. It's still there.

Here's a direct link to the article on their site. it's just been moved to the press release archive 'cos it's old news now.

For the new mac buyer let's hope so, otherwise there's gonna be alot of folks buying new PC's to run Protools....
As of jan 2003, all new macs will only run on OSX, no more OS9 capabilities accroding to Apple.

Does anyone know if we will be able to use pt 6 on a system that only has OS 9.2.1 on it or is it another ill fated OSX thing?

As I understand it PT6 is written specifically for OSX, so it would not run on 9.

Hope this is helpful.

Why the downer on X? Logic under X gets me much better performance over 9. Id agree that its not the best for older machines - its a bit sluggish on my powerbook, but on my Dual 1gig there is a definite improvement in plugin counts...

I love X ... OS9.2 is long in the tooth and grey around the edges. Moving forward is a good thing, there are plenty of old mac's for those who want to stay in the "classic ProTools era" I for one cannot wait for all the new challenges/options this new OS will bring. Besides Santa Claus has promised me many new things this year...

Speaking for myself, I'm waiting now only for the CoreAudio driver for my Mbox... I just saw Logic 5.5.0 for OS X.2, and I'm not talking about Platinum or Gold, just Logic (the one that used to be the Silver version)...
I must say I was very impressed on all the kind of plug ins that are already built-in and its performance under OS X.
I'm gonna go all Logic as soon as my Mbox's drivers are available.
