Re: waveshell RTAS horror!
Coaster, that's funny. I had the opposite problem with v2.8. I had to use the dongle and it took me a minute and half for PT to boot. Once I upgraded to 3.0, it now boots in about 15 seconds. It is great! and no dongle!
I did notice that NPP 3.0 is more power hungry. The meters are noticablely sluggish with only 3-5 tracks being used. Gremz |

Re: waveshell RTAS horror!
*sigh*
yes, i noticed my buddy's g4/450 with os 9.0.4 did not have the strange audiosuite behaviour mine is having. i have an 8600/300 with 8.6. i will have to do testing with os 9 to see if my old machine will even run it. odd thing is, his g4 does not get a heck of a lot more plug ins than mine, nor redraw the screen any faster in pro tools. graphics software is another story (SMOKE!) i guess its FIXIT COASTER! |

Re: waveshell RTAS horror!
It's unfortunate that Waves seems to have so many problems. I just got the exploding sound fixed, and now it's something else.
I've gotten used to PT taking 1-2 minutes to launch, because I've had the Waves Bundle since day 1. I've never known anything different. I guess it's something that's liveable though. The real problem seems to be waiting 1-2 minutes for an audio suite plug-in to open. Am I hearing you guys right on that? I've never had that problem, but I would be upset if I did. Hope it gets resolved for you. |

Re: waveshell RTAS horror!
Arno, since your above Digi links don’t work, I thought I’d check my bookmarks, and guess what - NONE OF THEM WORK. I appears the changes Digi made to to DUC have wiped out all our bookmarked links.

Re: waveshell RTAS horror!
Sorry those links don't work as written. If you replace "www" in them with "duc" they will work. Apparently when we moved the DUC to it's own server not all of the links redirected properly.
------------------ Bruce Paine Digidesign We'll work on making an automatic re-direct that will forward the previous "www.digidesign.com/ubb/..." links to "duc.digidesign.com/ubb/..." [This message has been edited by Digidesign (edited January 25, 2001).]

Re: waveshell RTAS horror!
Coaster--I have an 8500 with a G3/400mhz cpu.
Also have waves NPP I & II 2.8.1(2.9.1beta wave shell) with dongle. The beta fixed the "exploding sound" as you probably know. I am running 8.6 because the ram usage is much less than 9... It works great. I can open an L1 and 1 Realverb--1 Dverb--1 truverb and still use several eq's and Comps with DAE set on "4". My audiosuite open in 5 seconds--L1-RenComp-All EQ's also--Realverb-Autotune. I am afraid to go to 3.0 because I am warm and fuzzy with current setup... Sandman--What are the details of your setup? ram-cpu-etc...
