Protools 12.5.2 repeatable crash when selecting midi region

Just wanted to check if others are experiencing this:

I work fast when I'm composing and editing, and sometimes after recording midi on a Virtual Instrument track I will press stop and then quickly select the region I have just recorded in order to quantise or trim. It's just habit, I get in the zone and I do it instinctively. Problem is, if I select a midi region I have just recorded in the edit window too quickly after pressing stop when recording, I get the endless spinning beachball.

Is anyone else able to reproduce this?

Thanks STEREO MISSILE. This has been bringing my workflow to a complete stop also-rebooting and having to start from scratch.

Can you tell what version of PT ? What VIs ? And wich soundcard ?

Yes, but it is not really reproducible. It just happens sometimes. Sometimes 3 or 4 times a day.

I'm on PT HD 12.5.2. Mac Pro 6,1, Yosemite 10.10.4, HDX1.

One VI I have noticed particularly is Kontakt, I will have to pay more attention when it happens to which VI it is.

Thanks John,

Unfortunately I can't post the session because it's a commercial job that I can't release publicly (I do corporate and advertising stuff).

If I get a session which is just a muck around session to do it I will post it for sure.

I think it got something to do with AutoSave as the crash happens "most of the time" while PT saves during clicking at a midi region.

Do the others who are running into the same crashes also got AutoSave enabled ?

Yes I do, have it set to every 2 minutes because of the crashes!

I've also had this issue. It was particularly bad when using East West Play.

Interestingly this didn't happen when using the Built-in Output as the Playback engine. I was beginning to suspect my 003 as the culprit.

It's really frustrating!
