I am heaing clicks & pops in the Vocal Track..
Hello,
It seems I am getting little "bumps" or "clicks" in the vocals. Probably once or twice in every vocal line. When I record a vocal track: in a sound booth with the peaks hitting around -14 to -10 db. It is subtle and not a loud click but you can hear it in some words (like the sound of hitting a table or surface with your index finger). There are no plug ins on the track. I am pretty sure it is my equipment but I want to see if anyone has had this problem. EQUIPMENT: Pro Tools 12 Mac OS X El Capitan 10.11.4 Recording at Buffer Size: 32 samples Playback at: 1024 samples AUDIO INTERFACE: USB Scarlett 2i2 CORD: Mogami Gold XLR Cable MIC: Behringer B‑1 Large‑Diaphragm Cardioid Condenser HEADPHONES: Sony MDR-7507 Any tips or solutions would help. THANK YOU! |

Re: I am heaing clicks & pops in the Vocal Track..
32 samples... well that is easy, increase the buffer size until this goes away.
Use hardware monitoring in the 2i2 so you can run at larger buffer sizes without latency. Make sure "ignore errors" is not checked. You want Pro Tools to let you know (crash) if it is having problems. System fully optimized? Disk cache enabled (not "normal")? Recoding to a proper spec dedicated audio drive? |

Re: I am heaing clicks & pops in the Vocal Track..
Hi, sounds like it's either the buffer size at 32 or some synching issue with your audio interface.
I would try setting the buffer size at 64 and see if it goes away if the latency feels OK at that buffer size, and if that doesn't help try setting it even higher and use low-latency monitoring. If none of that works it's probably a sync issue |

Ah thank you for the responses!
I will give that a try at 64. |

Thank you for the reply, what hardware monitoring are you talking about? Or do you mean just clicking the ignore errors and low latency options?
Thanks |

Re: I am heaing clicks & pops in the Vocal Track..
your interface ha the ability to provide a no latency monitoring solution while recording. you will have to consult the manual or tutorials to figure that out.
Thus making the recording monitoring experience much easier to record to when using high buffer setting in the software (to avoid the pops and clicks you referenced having) if you are no longer recording and just monitoring and hearing the pops and clicks then try adjusting the buffer like people said previously.
