Default Keyboard shortcut to move audio clip up/down a track

Hi all,

I'm trying to move this clip down a few tracks. I know you can hit CNTRL then drag your clip down and it will snap vertically, I'm trying to find a shortcut that will let me select a clip, then move it up/down tracks.

Thanks in advance!

Use the Keyboard Focus in the Edit window
(as opposed to the a/z in Groups or Clips)
Cmd + Opt + 1 is Keyboard focus
Cmd + Opt + 2 is Clips focus
Cmd + Opt + 3 is Groups focus

Single presses of P moves selection up, semi-colon moves selection down

Workflow:
Double click to select Clip

Cmd + C to copy

in your pic > semi-colon to move selection down to new track
Cmd + V to Paste

Visually confirm it is in the correct place
then semi-colon your selection "back up" to delete original clip

Can also use Cmd + X to cut

AND it copies the 'cut clip' to clipboard

Also, Cmd + Option + Z will restore your last selection, FWIW

I doesnt work like a normal person would think......you have to do this moronic fkn work around in stead of just highlighting the clip and using the up down arrow......sometimes you can really tell the people who design these things never did a professional session in thier life

Thank you for your response, That sounds quite long winded.

Is there a way to move clips like this in pro tools: https://streamable.com/g4m19f

Many of us use a macro for this either with a software like keyboard maestro or via a programmable mouse/keyboard.

Is there no way to achieve what I did in media composer, in pro tools, without any external applications... just with the keyboard?

You can select the clip or clips and copy (cmd+c) press P or ; to go up/down and paste (cmd+v). I think that's the quickest way. It's just 3 steps to achieve your move.

Indeed, highlight the clip>Cut>move cursor with p or ; keys>paste. Its done as fast as these steps were typed
