Default Outboard gear???????????

I was wondering if anybody is using their favorite outbord gear to run with the their 001's? Is latency a problem? has anybody had any luck with external drives for storage?

Thanks,

I was wondering if many people use outboard gear on there systems or are the plugins sufficient? I've heard that latency screws with the signal and therfore makes outboard gear not work correctly.

Yeah, outboard reverb and delay work fine. A few milliseconds make no difference.

I use outboard compression and EQ on some things but I bounce it back to disk and reallign the timing (about 12mS). It depends on the type of material that you are processing, but on most stuff I don't notice any timing problems running outboard live.

Use the smallest buffer settings.

I'm using a lot of outboard gears with out problems.
If you use an insert you have to nuge the track minus 1022 samples when you are working in 48 khz and max buffer size.
