Anyone Else Suffering from M1 HDN PCIe Bug?

This is getting more annoying by the day.

I have a Mac Studio with a PCIe card, and almost every time I start ProTools, I get buffer error messages.

Avid's solution is to shut down the computer, unplug the chassis, wait, plug everything back in, start the computer, launch PT, and maybe it will work.

If it doesn't, the solution is to do it again. Eventually, it works, but yesterday it took eight restarts, power-downs, etc.

Insanity - and how this is an approved solution, I have no idea.

Is anyone else dealing with this issue?

Having the same issue in the worst way. MacBook Pro 2019 Max 64gb ram to PCIe chassis.

This has been going on for awhile, and is a documented bug for at least some chassis. That's why I ditched my HDN when I migrated.

I would gladly ditch HDN, but I need to find a solution.

Right now, I'm running an Omni and SSL AlphaLink with SSL MADI Bridge.

MOTU makes a box called the M64 that looks like it would be perfect for me. If I could confirm I could just plug the MADI cable from my AlphaLink into the MOTU and be off and running, I would dump the PCIe and Omni.

Unfortunately, Sweetwater won't respond to my messages about this working, and I'm hesitant to use a USB solution.

I've looked at the Apollo interfaces, but they don't seem cost-effective for what I need as I have some outboard gear I use as inserts - 2 LA-2A, 1 1176, Lexicon 300 and I also would like 16 outs to go to my console for summing.

If anyone has any ideas I'm all ears.

Hi,
I have the same problem. But for me it usually works fine if I open the Audio Midi window and click back and forth a few times in the devices.
I don't know why but most of the time PT works without problems until the next program start. You may have to repeat the process 2 or 3 times.

If you want to keep using your Alphalinks look at RME.
You could get a MADI PCIE card, or one of the USB offerings.
You won't be limited to 64 channels of IO as you are with HDN.

The issue is stock though- M64's are backordered.
So are many RME products.
You might be able to find something if you hunt around but it is still quite tricky.

UA have stock available of everything so if you want to get up and running soon then it might be the best option.
