Default WAV length detection

Release 2 still has the very same problem. It misreads most lengths of WAV files. I've included a file that was saved with a standard header from Soundforge 4.5, a file that all other programs I use except and don't have a problem with.

That file is available at http://members.tripod.de/airon/vox.zip (220kB)

I would have sent it a long, but where to?

This is quite a serious bug. Is this in the LE version too ?

Default Re: WAV length detection

Tony,

I'm not sure I understand the problem you've run into. I downloaded and unziped your WAV file: the header claims that it contains 251906 bytes of 44100/16-bit/mono audio data, or 125953 samples. I opened the file in Cool Edit, and the length is reported as 125953 samples. I then imported the file into a 24-bit PT session (requiring a conversion), and the length is again reported as 125953 samples. Lastly I tried simply adding the file to a 16-bit PT session, and the length is still 125953 samples.

Can you supply more information?

I wasn't precise enough, my apologies.

The files import fine, however they do not preview-play that way. For short samples this is especialy bad of course. The vocal sample is cut short during preview playback.

Funny enough the playback seems to stop somewhere around 16384 samples before the end, but I'm only estimating from what I hear and check in Soundforge.

This is a simple sample selection without touching the positional slider for example.
