Install of PT 8 freezes straight away
Hi chaps
My desktop has been running PT 7.0 happily for ages. I wanted beat detective for multiple tracks so have bought music production toolkit 2 and PT 8. When I put the install DVD in it makes a lot of odd noises and doesn't automatically run. Then when I manually open the disc and click on 'setup' all I get is a small grey screen saying 'welcome to protools' and that's it!? Is it likely that the disc is corrupted or probable I'm running into compatibility issues? I'll post a sandra report as soon as I get home but obv I'm hoping it's just the disc |

Re: Install of PT 8 freezes straight away
Still no luck with this. Had my system for a couple of years. I'll make sure I've done all the optimizations this weekend but would that even stop the installer launching?

Re: Install of PT 8 freezes straight away
I see from your Sandra that you are running XP pro SP2. SP1 & 2 are untested by Digi and they only guarantee PT8 compatability with SP3. You could try installing that.

Re: Install of PT 8 freezes straight away
Ok yeah I'll have a look at that. Could that actually cause an installer freeze though? I bought my PT 8 through mail order and I'm just a little concerned how long it could take for me to find out if the disc is actually ok. As I've said it makes a lot of noise, speeds up suddenly, slows down etc
Does the same on my laptop but that's not supported by digi either so I'm none the wiser |
