Default Tempo Mapping issue with bars and meter

Dear Community,

I'm having an issue after creating a complex tempo map with identify beat:
While done doing the tempo map, I noticed a meter change I missed. So I try changing only bar 7 from 4/4 to 3/4 without changing anything else from Bar 8 on.
Any way I try doing this changes following bars: even tho tempo markers do stay at their position, bars move...
I just want bar 7 changing the meter to 3/4 without affecting it's absolute length or moving anything afterwards.

Any ideas how to do this?

Thanks in advance,

J

I've never figured out how - I always end up having to delete all the tempo markers from that point on and start over from there. Really a pain!

render a blank piece of audio to a track called tempo map.
make cuts on all the tempo and meter events, so that they're locked in position and you have unmoveable reference points.
copy your tempo and meter timeline section into the copy buffer (both tempo & meter timelines selected)
make your change to the meter at the desired position
delete all tempo and meter events after it
paste your copied tempo and meter buffer at the desired following position of your saved cut (both timelines selected)

does that work?

Wow. I'm betting on tweakhead. Fingers crossed.

Yeah, that's a wild answer by Tweakhead!

I'm having trouble understanding the problem. Your "ID beat" tempo map read bar 7 as 4/4 but it's really 3/4? And is everything from bar 8 on displaced by 1 beat - like beat 4 of bar 7 is actually beat 1 of bar 8?

All I know is that if you change the meter on one bar you need to change back on the following bar or it stays in the new meter. So "meter+ bar 7=3/4", followed by, "meter+ bar 8=4/4". But I'm sure you know that and it's not the situation.

Do you need to change it to match a score or something? Just curious.

good point by JJ.
I had assumed that since it was already at 4/4 there would be a 4/4 event automatically inserted when the copy-buffered timelines were finally pasted - but to assure this happens it might be good to first add a 4/4 meter event at the start of the selected area to be copied - so that it definitely gets inserted after the newly-changed 3/4 bar.
