disk cache was set at normal - yes I usually use a sec pre and post roll.

I just upped it to 9 gig. system usage said 1%. ( I got 32 Gig RAM now )

only 164 voices used and 96 mins duration - video is DNxHD 36 going thru a T-tap. ( the mac's fan isnt even on so the session isnt taxing the machine ? )

feeling brave - tried same punch on purpose - crashes and cant report to Avid as crash reporter just hangs too

I also have a 2018 i7 Mini with 32GB RAM and SSDs. But I'm still on Catalina. Destructive record on mix and stems works here. Always with pre and post roll.

Note that Reichman uses Destructive Punch. Might be worth trying that instead of standard Destructive. You'll need to set it up but maybe letting PT render it's DPE files will help this particular gremlin.

Have you tried consolidating the audio you're punching in on? It could be a small corruption in the wav file(s) that causes the crashes.

interesting- havent tried - just wonder why the corruption is only an issue if 'repunching' in tho ... these sessions all started off in protools 11 on high sierra before migrating... have a new project in a couple of weeks so may be revisiting this subject with a fresh perspective end of may

I managed about 5 hours today before I 'forgot'
