just bought pt 8

i just bought and mbox 2 with pt 8 about 2 weeks ago from sweetwater , was about to upgrade to 9, now i dont even see it available and they want 499$ to go to 10. i feel used.

Well I sure hope you had a killer deal on that one then and if not I think you have every right to feel used .... by your dealer ....

Really? Sweetwater actually sold you a product that was discontinued well over a year ago. PT8 came out in 2008 and the Mbox 2 has been replaced by the new lineup of Mboxes. Surely you must have known this when you made your purchase decision.

Well, I paid 200$ for the m box 2. My plan was to upgrade to pt9 within the month. Then I would use pt 9 with my duet and I'd have a spare audio interface for any emergency. It was cheaper to to by the mbox with pt 8 then upgrade to pt 9, then it would have been just to get pt 9. I wasn't planning for 10 to come out. Funny thing I was going to upgrade to pt 9 this week. So if pt 10 would have come out this Monday, I would be good and get a free upgrade. I'm very dissapointed.

I would return and get your money back. Then buy Studio One V2 it's amazing.

I already use logic and I love it. I wanted to get back into pro tools as that's what I started with. Also most sessions I get are in pt, so it makes things easier. I just wish avid could do something, I like pro tools and like working in it.

Remember that Sweetwater is made aware of the upgrades pretty much the same as us. I bought a 003r the week before the 003r+ came out. My rep assured me that they had no idea that the 003r+ was in the pipe and offered me an upgrade or a credit. I took the credit.

Sweetwater knows whats coming. They get advanced copies of the software and hardware. It may be true that some techs don't know, but the higher ups know for sure.

I'm going to call sweetwater Monday and see if they can do something. I hope so.
