Default Importing .wav files directly to Mono Tracks

Hey gang..

I've got a project where I have to bring in a ton of .wav files, do some editing and processing and then export them to MP3's. These are spoken word files.

It would help if I could bring them in already split into Mono instead if going through the process of splitting each track and getting rid of one side of the split and the original in the session.

Anyone know a short cut or a work around. I have to do almost 700 of these so working out some steps would help.

Thanks!

What is the content of the files, spoken voice, music, drum beats, other loops?

Depending on the extent and type of editing you need to do, maybe PT isn't the most efficient program. If your editing needs are pretty basic, you could try one or both of these programs:

1. Audacity (free audio editor), can convert to mp3 with optional LAME encoder, or you can use iTunes for the mp3 conversion; It's very quick to load files.

http://audacity.sourceforge.net/

2. Audiofinder (limited-feature demo is free) - this is a great little utility that I find myself using more and more.

If either of those will do the editing, then you should be able to batch process a lot of files into iTunes and convert to mp3 there.

Thanks for the note...but this is definitely a ProTools job. Have to wash things through a couple of my waves plugs and drop in some intros and outros. This is a series of lectures that will be converted into podcasts. So I need PT for the overall production. Make sense??

Thanks, again!
