Try cut one bar, going in to the chorus with 20 MIDI-tracks! It takes forever.

It should work like editing audio in my opinion.
Select regions, Press “B” and hit delete, WITH the notes following my edit.
Why would it NOT work that way? I don’t get it…
Spot on. When arranging with a ton of midi tracks, along with audio tracks, its much easier, faster to have in Clip view. Especially when you want to view the midi tracks with audio... Thats what you meant by "waveform".... It boggles my mind why this is not possible.... Cut is a cut....

DP was an absolute pain in the arse. No true instrument tracks and the MIDI implementation was a nightmare. Then again Danny Elfman uses (or used to use) DP and he's done well for himself.
Thats what the younger clients call it. Create in protools and then watch some kid smoke you in logic.... serious. Lets get with it here....

HDX.....Lots of things on the chips especially the mixer etc....

Look, its not efficient. VI's just choke at low buffers.... And I am talking 128 here. Not even getting into a fight about 64 or 32.....

What can we do to reach Avid about this? I posted about it for 8 years now. We need a push from one of the Avid guys on this board. It's a major issue.

So if there is an 8 bar loop and I decide to make a cut/edit at bar 5, if there are any notes that are on top of beat 5 then they will disappear when I do the edit. The workaround is to use the trim tool and make sure that the midi parts start exactly on the beat or slightly behind.

Again not sure if this helps or is your issue.

No No NO NO NO! I have explained this. When editing midi, when moving a note,Copying and pasting a note with the command key, It will disappear! Right before your eyes!! Workaround is to consolidate the clip and it stops.... for a little while at least.... It is random. But happens frequently.

This is NOT workflow... Or system config.... Its a BUG!

I think you are right. Avid could care less. They are not after music creators... That sale is LONG gone for them. Younger producers stay clear of Pro Tools....

For me what you are describing only happens in 2 scenarios:

1. There is midi data slightly ahead of the bar line, so when i edit a clip, especially in clip view, the first note of the that measure disappears.

2. there is midi data from the preceding measure that crosses the bar line and is held over. Again this only happens to me in clip.

Someone posted earlier in this thread a wonderful work around that they created using macros and Keyboard maestro. Maybe this could be a solution for you?

Other than the sample rounding issue, I am very happy so far that I left studio one to make pt my only daw. Again the head room, horse power and stability are light years beyond s1. I may pick up ableton nos that it is more integrated with PT an between the 2 there isnt much you cant do with ease.

The only complaint I have is that i dont particularly like the sound Vi's coming through the avid omni while creating. i can't quite put my finger on it. It is fine for mixing though. I much prefer the sound of the focusrite red 16line or the benchmark dac 1 for this use. They are both digitally wired in and they give me a sound that I am use to, which in turn affects my sonic choices.
