Just so ya know I saw the Powerlogix GHz for 399 and the 1.2GHz for about 499 @ www.macsales.com

I got the 800 mhz Gigadesigns upgrade and I have been very happy with it ($300). The 2 mb L3 cache really makes all the difference - tons of plug in power. Also, make sure you've got 512 of RAM at least.

That said, if you're thinking about spending $600 or whatever, I would wait a few weeks to see what's on the horizon from Mac. Rumors of 64 bit Macs are floating about, and if true they will likely be unvailed at the June 23 Worldwide Developer's Conference. Although a public announcement may not be made, it wouldn't be hard to figure out that you could probably see them on sale by August. Again, this is speculation, so if you need a solution now, do what you gotta do.

Default OT........... Processor Upgrade

I think I've decided to get the Sonnet upgrade card for my G4. However, I still have two questions. Number one, I've noticed that the 1.2GHz card has gone from $699 to $529 since the beginning of the year. Does this mean they are getting ready to come out with something faster? Second, the 1GHz is only $429, a hundred dollar difference from the 1.2GHz. How much difference is there between the 1 and 1.2GHz cards in terms of power and/or speed. The obvious answer being 200MHz, but I'm talking about the difference in performance. Thanks

lets say your in the middle of a session and your about to put that last plug on that you need. You get a screen that says you are running out of dsp and your peeved. Maybe that .2 ghz would have saved you, maybe it wouldn't, but if you get the 1 ghz you'll never know.
