Default 10.4.5 and 7.1LE Not happy with different users

I cannot get 7.1 to launch under different users. Tried all combinations of new users , repair permissions, library deleting, (all the standard stuff) Yes, I have read the osx troubleshooting guide, and been through it all before.

Any user account where I install 7.1LE opens PT fine. Other users cannot. Switch to different user and install again- new user can open PT and others cannot. (Including the previous user that could open PT before) Reinstalled OS from scratch, problem is exactly the same. Any user that installs PT7.1LE can use it and all other users crash on launch.

Am I missing something? Please don't tell me protools isn't happy with different users- every other version has been fine until this one. Even with severely restricted user accounts, PT7.0cs1-5 were fine.

What's the deal? Revert OS?

Thanks for your help.

I think this actually is an OSX-issue. I recall having the same problem when I installed OSX (when it was brand new) for the first time at the soundengineer-school I worked, and I never got that part fixed..You don't wanna have the students on adm permission I don't know if this was ever fixed. It's not an issue for me now, but if anyone have an answere I would be grateful!

6.2.3b1 through 6.9.3 have been working great for me under heavily managed accounts.

I have not yet tested 7.x this way

I having the exact same issue. I had 10.4.3 running 7.0 before, and I had no issues switching users and using PT. Now that I moved up to 10.4.5 and 7.1, I am having the same problem. I can only use PT on the account that I install with. I use two seperate accounts. One account is for web browsing and email and general use. I have a second account named "Pro Tool" and thats all I use it for. (Both accounts are Admin) I turned off Dashboard and Spotlight on this account to get an extra little perfomance. This set up worked flawlessly until I upgraded. I installed PT 7.1 with my main account and when I switched users to the Pro Tools account, PT kept crashing. So I re-ran the 7.1 installer in my Pro Tools account and now it works in that account, but will not open in my main account. PLUS on top of that, I have recieved several kernal panics since upgrading.. I am assuming I will be doing a re-install of 7.0

10.4.5 w/ LE 7.0cs5 seems to not have the user problems- Peak 5xt is also fine with 10.4.5 and different users.

Hopefully we'll see 7.1LEcs1 fix a bunch of issues in the coming days.

This is definitely a Permissions issue.

Try this;

Get Info for PTLE 7.1 and change Ownership & Permissions details for Group to "Admin" and "Read & Write". If PTLE still won't open in your second admin account (and it didn't for me!), then try changing O&P's for Group to "Everyone" and "Read and Write". When I did that, PTLE opened OK in my second admin user account. I then changed the O&P's details for Group back to "Admin" and PTLE still opens OK.

Hope this helps.
