This is definitely the last OS for this machine though. If PT 2022 and beyond proves less stable on it than 2021, I’ll just freeze at 2021.12 until a real M1 Mac Pro arrives.
That's the conundrum. I already have a re-instatement code and know I will freeze mine next year or so with my perpetual for 2025 when the M1 is out and AVID and all other plug in manufacturers fix all the bugs and stability.

But as of now since there's some great sales on PT Perpetual and mine is expiring soon, don't want to waist the $ if come May next year PT 2022.5 drops Mojave and M has that one issue of drag and drop wav files crashes or video crashes, or the other millions of possibilities

I’ve just accepted the fact that I have to keep my support plan on all my perpetual licenses current. Just to risky to have a machine go down and possibly need a current PT ASAP.

Yes. You can either pay the yearly and have the updates, or pay an arm and a leg to get back in. It's your choice, but I doubt that you will save any money when you have to get back in the cue. That's my opinion and I could very well be wrong.

Sorry, I forgot to mention that I already have a re-instatement code, so it's free for me to get back in a few years. I am more concerned if I should renew now for 2022 knowing that I can't go past Mojave.

I don't mind freezing now at 2021.12 and getting back in around 2025 or so. However seems every year or so, they do come with an EPIC new feature. Freeze/Commit, then folders, then a few years ago extra 128 voices, then this year 2048 (which is HUGE deal, since those with 1 HDX or HDN who need 700+ tracks would have to buy a few HDX cards at $4,500, so going from HDX with 256 tracks to 700 would cost over $14,000 w/tax). Would hate to freeze this year and in 2022 something that is Very much needed, like CLIPS folder that has been asked for around 21+ years is finally available or multiple track size in mix window instead of Normal or narrow only. Etc

I would hope Avid keeps supporting Mojave - I'm on a 6-core 2013 Mac Pro dustbin (64gb RAM) and have been experimenting with different versions of Mac OS.

Mojave is definitely the sweet-spot when it comes to these machines - Catalina is noticeably less snappy and can't run high CPU-use mixes which Mojave was *just about* able to...

Perhaps if more comment about here, might give another Valid reason to keep Mojave through 2022

I have 2021.12 working very well on 2 different MacPro 5,1 machines. 1 is an HX|1 the other is an HDX|2. Both now in Hybrid Mode. Much better than High Sierra.

2021.12 HDN mojave on mac mini/macbook pro here - running both smooth but with spinning weels from time to time (quite rare so I`m ok with it) - I was wondering if upgrading to big sur would make my system snappier..
