Default Anyone using a TMD1000 to route gear?

Is anyone using a TMD1000 to route 001 outs/ins?

I'm trying to set this up, but this mixer isn't as flexible for what I want to do.

Basically, I want to route PTLE outputs to, lets say, units by either BBE, TC and Lexicon and I was hoping to use the mixer to control my volumes, however, I would like to take the output of 001 to input into the tmd1000, then bus out to a piece of outboard gear, then back to the mixer, then in PT, and I also want to monitor back from PT. The key here is that I want to MONITOR what's being recorded in PT.

Get a Tdif to Lightpipe converter. That way you can go digitally in between them. Along with the S-pdif, that's 10 channels digitally between the two. Then, use the mixer's bus outs to go to FX devices. What I do is always use the Spdif mirroring in PT, and use channels 9 and 10 for the mixer's Spdif inputs. I clock the mixer off of the spdif input as well (to get my clock from PT). 9 and 10 are always your PT main outs, and with the tdif to lightpipe converter 1-8 are extra channels for tracks you want to process with outboard stuff. For analog FX reurns, use 1-8 also. That way you can digitally record your FX returns right into PT . With minimal AD-DA conversion you save on latency. For verbs and other post fader send processing, put channels 1-8 on the mixer at unity. Make a post fader send in PT to ADAT 1 (channel 1 on the mixer). Send chanel 1 on the mixer to buss outs 1 and 2, which may be your lexicon. Return the lexicon back to analog 7 and 8. Now the lexicon will show up digitally in PT under ADAT 7 and 8 (when ther direcct output button is pressed. Anyway, hope that this gives you some ideas. Also, why don't you just have a patchbay for your mixer, outboard gear ad the 001? Then you could patch the 001's 7 and 8 outputs into you lexicon, and then back into PT's 7 and 8 inputs? A patch bay, rack and a few snakes will cost as much as the lightpipe/tdif converter!! Anyway, good luck

Hey Zeek, I have one yet I only use it for monitoring the S/PDIF outs of the 001. I used to try to use it with that Tascam ADAT to TDIF device but only had clock problems. The Oasys PCI is now hooked up ADAT with the 001 very happily now.

When I master I'll go out the 001 24bit 44.1 to a dbx Quantum which dithers it to 16bit to a CD burner out of that to the TM-D1000 for monitoring to some Event 20/20 bas speakers.

It was $499 at Guitar Center when I bought it, now they're like $299 if they have any left. It works great for what I use it for.

Thanks for the suggestions. I already own a tmd1000 with the tdif to adat converter thing. I also have the digital expansion card which I have to stick in.

I thought that the spdif A input of the tmd1000 can only be routed to inputs 1-8? Perhaps I didn't hit enter correctly when I slelected it.

Thanks for the help.

p.s. I also use the 20/20bas. Do yours pop when you shut them off before the mixer?

You have to go to the "Options" menu to "Digital Input" and set it to "RCA" for the S/PDIF in. Then in the "Options" menu again find "Ch 9-16 Input" and I set the 9 and 10 inputs separately to "Digital In A". So this leaves 1-8 analog and 9&10 for the S/PDIF in. The only reason I'm a bit fluent on the menus of the TM-D1000 is because of the video that came with the TM-D1000. Please all manufactures more instructional videos with your products! Also, I haven't used the TM-D1000 for recording so I can't say how the converters are.

The Event 20/20 bas do click but only sometimes, I think they need to sit a while with no sound through them before you switch them off, not too sure though.
