Cool Please help me

This is such an embarrassingly simple question but I CANNOT figure out whats goin on'

I am simply trying to input straight 16th notes in the piano roll, (for a drum pattern) and every time I put the note on the and of a beat, it snaps to the 8th note on the grid. Protools refuses to put the note on any offbeat. I can put straight 8ths, but not 16ths and cannot figure out why. I dont think i have any unusual quantize setting set, so I don't know why I can't draw 16th notes on every 16th note beat for a bar with the pencil tool, pretty annoying, thx 4 the help,

-Coop

Hello,

In the MIDI editor make sure the grid size is set to 16ths (Click on the note symbol to the right of where is says GRID at the top to get the note drop down menu)

Cheers

Thx so much for your response, but I still can't figure it out. Its the weirdest problem, I have the grid value set to 16ths, I can see the grid lines drawn in, but literally when I draw a note on the piano roll that isn't "On the beat" it immediately jumps to the next 16th note slot. This is enraging me. Also when I import MIDI files to Troubleshoot it doesn't import offbeat 16ths, so tons of notes are missing. Does my Protools have a glitch? I have NO IDEA why this is happening and a bunch of my friends can't figure it out either

Have you got realtime MIDI filters on such as quantize?

Although this doesn't normally change the graphical view of the notes.

I'm also puzzled what you mean by off-beats, are you saying you want beats that drop between the 16th note? If this is the case then you need to set your grid to 32notes.

Or try it in SLIP mode instead of GRID mode.

Also try: within grid mode, in conjunction with the 'grid' dropdown menu, make sure that you 'nudge' value is the same or less than your grid value, otherwise you will be forced to place your note within the 'nudge' value.

Hope that helps.
