Default home studio desks and setup

(not mixers)
what kind of desks (workstation desks) do you guys use in a home studio. i have this old wooden desk i have my stuff on but its getting pretty ghetto. i was looking at some of that quick loc stuff.
is this a waste of money? what do you suggest? other companies to look into etc.

it would be cool if people posted pics of their homestudio setup. (maybe this has happened b4).

thanks

Hey Lo:

I got a desk from IKEA that has a metal frame with a big piece of wood for a desktop and another adjustable shelf toward the back for my monitor and some rack stuff. They sell companion shelves with it that can be mounted on the sides and swivel (they show then with a monitor on them) which are perfect for near field speakers.

All that plus a keyboard drawer (which I had to mount) for $200.

I'll try to find a model #.

Carl

look at Bush Industries computer desks thru Office Max catalog and the Bush website. For 200bucks the stuff is as useful as that $1-7K stuff offered by GC. Speakers mount on risers at just the right level.

I got the songstation pro from GC.

Not the corner desk, but the full 5 feet wide, with a shelf for monitors, the swivel out shelves for nearfields, two rack mount spaces between the top shelf and surface, and a lower ledge for my midi controller, and cpu keyboard.

Paid 400 bucks.

It also has roller wheels, so you can move it around...

I have a Raxxess "Big Apple" workstation. It used to be on their website. It was around $7-800 and its a nice desk. Sam Ash has a similar desk on their site called the "Golden Gate" (see link if it works) Raxxess Golden Gate Studio Workstation Desk

We custom built our own studio furniture, as everything I looked at wasn't exactly suited to what we wanted. It was simple, inexpensive, and it looks great. See website for pictures, and feel free to e-mail directly for more info.

Hope this is helpful.
