Reinstalling Pro Tools LE v6.9
I am having trouble re-installing Pro Tools 6.9 on my laptop. I recently purchased an Mbox that came with Pro Tools LE v6.9 software. I am using Windows XP Service Pack 2. The first time I installed Pro Tools on the system the installation was a success, but I could not record or play due to a frequent hardware buffer error. After updating my RAM, I tried removing Pro Tools using the Add/Remove Programs option in the control Panel and reinstalling it. However, Add/Remove Programs did not completely remove Pro Tools and during re-installation I received the following message-
Component: Program Files File Group: PT Folder Icon File: <icon Path>/ Error: the filename, directory name, or volume label syntax is incorrect. Next, in another attempt to make a clean install of Pro Tools I used the regedit.exe to remove the hexadecimal codes that cooresponded to Pro Tools and all the Digi Design software. When I tried the install shield wizard again the installation got about 70% complete and then gave me the following message- Component: Documentation File Group: Documentation-Common File: D:\Pro Tools LE Installer\data2.cab Error: Data error (cyclic redundancy check) Please help, I don't know what else to do! Since buying this software I have not had a chance to really enjoy it. |

Re: Reinstalling Pro Tools LE v6.9
I’m sorry to say that I don’t have a solution for you as I am having the very same issue with MBOX 2 and LE 6.81 version. Did you get your information to use regedit.exe from the “answerbase” answer details below that describes that problem as a "Component Transfer Error during Install."?
"Unable to remove or uninstall Pro Tools."? Platform: XP Home, XP Pro ID: 28596 Created: 06/29/2004???? I am unsure of what to do at this point as well. I am just one step behind you not having tried the regedit.exe solution yet. I hope someone else has some good info. for us out there. You know I feel for you... Please continue to post progress and I will do the same. Reguards.. |

Yes, I used the advice of the answerbase thread entitled "Component Transfer Error during Install" dated 6/29/04. I am open to trying more ideas. I hope that someone who has experienced this problem will post some possible solutions. Good luck!

Re: Reinstalling Pro Tools LE v6.9
Thanks for the help, however I am still having trouble. First, I opened up the Installshield Wizard and selected Pro Tools Program Files only. But, it does not give me any additional option to install the application without the documentation. D:/ is my only hard drive. I wish I had another one, so I could just do a clean install.

Re: Reinstalling Pro Tools LE v6.9
So D:\ is the drive where windows is installed?
Maybe I'm confused.

Re: Reinstalling Pro Tools LE v6.9
And D:\ is the location of windows as well?
Perhaps you could post details about your system? (instructions for how to do so are in the General Troubleshooting thread)

I am sorry but i wish i can help i am having the same problem and i just started a new thread. i got 6,8,1 as well. Did you go to the registry to try to figure this out? Did you try deleting some stuff? You know on digi design website they tell what to delete but not for 6.8.1!
