Re: AMD processor/motherboard recommendations?
I use the Asus A7m266 motherboard with the AMD 1.4 thunderbird. I get awsome performance. Do a search for pt perfomance and ypu will get all kinds of answers to your question.

Re: AMD processor/motherboard recommendations?
Hi,
I'm running the slightly older A7V133. Also very solid, but not DDR. Go with the recommendation above I think... Mark |

Re: AMD processor/motherboard recommendations?
I have my A7M266 up to 1.46Ghz and it is working great. Cooling it with a commercial watercooled case from Koolance. Good luck.

Re: AMD processor/motherboard recommendations?
I love my Soyo dragon board (KT266 chipset) and 1.4ghz AMD T-bird. Just put my info on the Davec test thread.

Re: AMD processor/motherboard recommendations?
Kronee,
I think I paid around 230.00 total after shipping. It came with a Sparkle 300 Watt power supply. The new ones are around 195.00 without power I believe, but they run bigger fans and produce more noise. Will be interesting to see how loud they are now for our recording purposes. Allen |

Re: AMD processor/motherboard recommendations?
To be on the bleeding edge of performance, look at the new VIA KT266A based boards, or the new nForce boards. These chipsets perform, in many cases, considerably faster than the old AMD 761 and KT133A based boards.
One of those boards coupled with a new Athlon XP would be faster than anyone would (at this point) ever need. |
